Metro or theme-park ride?

As the overground sections of the Metro rapidly develop they're posing a fascinating question.

It's beginning to look as though it would be more at home in the mega theme park of Dubailand.

The supporting pillars are at varying heights and the horizontal concrete slabs, which I assume is where the rails go, range from almost ground level to seven or eight metres above ground.

Look, ground level...

...higher...

...higher still...

Some take the trains above the flyovers, others take them below the flyovers.

Is that what it's going to be, up and down? Anybody know?

And I hope the different departments have been talking to each other so they are aware that the Metro has to get past the new Interchange 5.5 or whatever it's going to be called (you know, the one that wasn't originally planned, at the Jebel Ali end of Dubai Marina). It looks as though the roof of the trains is going to be awfully close to the bottom of the flyover...

I'm so sad about this. The way it looks, the height etc.

I don't know if you or anyone else has thought of this, but remember how we 'used to' be able to spot the various showrooms/buildings on Shaikh Zayed Road and be able to identify our location because of them? Well, from the road, I can barely see any of these shops anymore and if anything, takes the colour out of Sheikh Zayed Road. Thank goodness for Burj Dubai: now I know where I'm heading and how far I am from my destination!

Another point - what are they going to do with the billboards that are now behind the pillars? Move them in front of the pillars? That would look so poor!
