This is a car crash

We have plenty of car crashes in Dubai but nothing so far to match this one earlier this morning in Sydney.

A Holden Commodore (which are re-badged as Chevrolet Luminas in the Gulf) was obviously speeding. The driver lost control, the car went over the median strip, crashed through a traffic light pole and over the footpath. Then it hit a large mound of dirt and took off.

It landed on, or I should say in, the roof of a house 90 metres from the start of the crash...

The couple in the house and their three month old baby were unharmed, the two morons in the car are in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

I hope this doesn't give members of our population in Dubai something to aspire to....

Dave, it could very easily start a competition here to see who could land their car the highest.

It must have been a ford Falcon coming in to roost.

on the other hand, it would be interesting to see the results on the UAE houses. EMAAR v Nakheel. I think the car would go through the Nakheel house walls in a manner similar to going through rice paper and land in the backyard fully intact, come to a stop, then roll over and explode into flames.

If it was an EMAAR house, then EMAAR security would come by and pin a violation notice on it and depart. Then the car would roll over and explode into flames.

BM, spot on, but you missed the most important job of the security people. To run around shouting "No Photo!!"

Any Aussies still of the opinion that since they go through top of the shelf (pun intended) driving schools, they should be exempted from driving tests in the UAE?

I think the competition amongst our fellow drivers here in the UAE has already begun: this morning on the Dubai Bypass Road (611) we first drove past a burnt-out smashed-up car... a few metres later we encountered a truck's / lorry's huge cargo container, on its side and burnt. And then, about 200 metres further away, we saw the same truck's DRIVER'S CABIN lying on a sand dune - all by itself. That must have been a spectacular flight! Scary...

ZTG it's back to my often-asked question of why we have so many vehicles bursting into flames here.

If the Aussie one had been here it would have burnt the house down!
