Seen, vaguely, with my own eyes.

The car is in for a couple of days for servicing so I have a hire car. As a result, for the first time, I'm driving a car with tinted windows.

I'm sure this one is below the 30% tinting legal limit, it's a very light tint.

But.

All the comments I've read and heard about it restricting vision are absolutely true. It's downright bloody dangerous.

The first thing I noticed was how dark the inside of the car is. Next I realised it's difficult to read the instruments. It's also very hard to see clearly in the mirror through the rear window. Both those things mean that trying to see them means dangerous extra time with your eyes off the road.

This is with a very light tint. I dread to think how little can be seen from some of the really blacked-out cars we all see around.

I've heard the silver tint is the worst; apparantly it is so dark that at night all one can see is the bulbs from streetlights and pretty much nothing else.

I believe it, Sam - and it explains some of the driving.

And have you tried parking it in an underground parking lot yet? We rented one too last year. I took it back within 24 hours. It scared me to death.

I have to confess Seebee, that it never occurred to me that having tinted windows could be dangerous. I've always thought they were a blessing, particlularly when driving with a strong sun coming in on the offside. I was thinking of having just that one window done, but now I will have second thoughts.

Wear polarised sunglasses Caz, it's very much safer.

You can get a very light tint, used mainly for blocking harmful rays and about 10% sun light...

V-Kool... Expensive but worth it..
