A tight spot

I know many of us get irritable with people who take up two parking spaces, but I think perhaps we should be a little more understanding.

I mean, however good a driver you are it's sometimes difficult to sqeeze a large car into a tight space.

WOW, they are obviously a very good driver to squeeze into that spot.

Good one!

This is very irritating; I've come across so many times in many malls here myself too.

I assume the drivers are most likely umm.. women?

Rosh, being deliberately provocative eh?

From what I see on my daily drives the evidence is that bad, dangerous, inconsiderate, stupid driving doesn't depend on gender or nationality. It's across the board.

(With one exception - drivers of black Land/Range Rover Sports are currently the most dangerous sub-species).

Guess what I do when I see a car parked irresponsibly in my parking lot?

Take out my notebook from my glove compartment. And write a nasty (with generous use of obscenities) anon comment to the driver and leave it at the windscreen (the place where cops leave a parking ticket!)

And you won't believe I've seen the very same cars parked more responsibly the following days or weeks.

Seems to be working.

A quick check on the Dubai Police website shows that, unsurprisingly, they've already got a track record of fines for 'obstructing traffic'.

See how effective is the enforcement system that allows the offender up to one year to pay traffic fines.

Seabee, yes. That said, I concur on gender / race etc to a large extent. However, those who seem 'challenged' parking a car or choose to snail in the fast lane are often pretty ladies in their trams, err coopers / beetles. It gets worse after the sun sets! I kid you NOT.

masood - tried that with a chronic offender in my Emaar run residential building - keeps parking in my spot and everyone else's. After calling Emaar, who refuses to do anything as they claim they can't by law, and the police, I was told by the police officer that "it's not my country." AND was threatened by the police that if anything happened to the car, they would come after me. In a land of huge excesses, they can't afford to buy clamps...
