I couldn't help laughing...

The Daily Telegraph reports the UK's hottest day of the year so far.

"Beaches and promenades at resorts including Blackpool, Brighton and Bournemouth were busy and ice cream sales brisk"

Here's Brighton:

Notice the beachwear - heavy jackets, sweaters and hoodies.

"Visitors basked in temperatures up to 19C"

Basked? In 19 degrees?

The report is here.

19C sounds amazing - unlike our current 35-40C.

Obviously doing their bit to lessen the risk of skin cancer.

I just got back from the UK yesterday morning. Honestly compared to the stifling heat we will get soon it was beautiful. The sad thing about the UK though, is that later this week it could well be back to rain and 4C, as it was when we arrived a week ago!

Here is something that would make you laugh too, if it didnt involve a death penalty.

A pregnant woman may be sentenced to death for ...........selling valium. The twist is that Valium is available in the country with a prescription, so essentially a person may be executed for selling large amounts of sedatives without a prescription

How I wish for Global Warming to hit Dubai and the hot 40C becomes a pleasant 20C...

The irony is that you've shown a photo of a load of Brits on a beach, largely complying with a Dubai dress code.

Good point Doug. They're in more modest dress than they wear in the malls here.

Is everybody aware of the new qatari visa rules..from next May all citizens from all countries including the U.S, the UK and all Europe..will have to apply for a visa before landing in Doha..The fear is that UAE might implement the same rule very soon..

Laugh, I bloody near p****d myself. I'm sitting in Sunny Noyabrsk (Russian Siberia). It's getting to a cosy plus something in daytime and dropping to about minus 10 deg C at night. Our wonderful Lloyds TSB Dubai have just informed me that they have a list of about 100 countries on a blocked list. Russia is on the list, so I cannot get money out of my account. Great in a country that still runs mostly on cash. Other coworkers based out of Britainistan using Lloyds UK do not have the same problem. It's nice to get that special Dubai treatment when I'm far from home.
