Not tempted

We usually find something new and interesting on menus when we're in Singapore, and the last trip was no exception.

Chicken feet is a standard item in Chinese restaurants but this was a new one on me:

I've eaten crocodile meat back in Oz, but I draw a line at eating the feet.

I gave these a miss too:

And much like Dubai, No Parking doesn't apply to you if you drive something like a Lambo:

Now back in Dubai and there's an interesting story in today's papers. Given our reputation for enjoying a beer or two I had to smile at reports that an Aussie's been fined for consuming alcohol.
Our football team's former captain Craig Moore pleaded guilty to consuming alcohol and was fined Dh1,000.

"an Aussie's been fined for consuming alcohol."

um...what? Did they fine the hotel that sold it to him? Or can he buy it but not drink it?

Anon@9.25, that's a fact I don't understand and one I've mused on in past posts.

It's sold by hotels, it's dispensed freely by Emirates Airline flying into Dubai, it's sold in bottle shops. Yet consuming it is an offence - so selling it for consumption must be aiding and abetting. Mustn't it?

I saw this article in the 7days and according to them he was fined (in the end) for a dispute over a taxi fare (AED50) and the charges against him for being drunk were dropped.

Hazel, the stories actually said that he was fined Dh1,000 for illegally consuming alcohol.

What were dropped were charges of failing to pay the fare and assault & insulting a police officer.

You can check the 7days version here.
