Christmas in Dubai

A couple of posts back I put a photo of Christmas decorations already on display. Our blogger friend DownUnder, LDU, asked about Christmas in Dubai.

I rummaged through my thousands of photographs and came up with these, taken last year in Mall of the Emirates and Wafi Mall:

This year will be my family's first Christmas in Dubai. At least we can have that feeling of Christmas outside with these gigantic trees in the mall!

wow! That looks really extravagant. Do the locals have any saying equivalent to Merry Christmas?

Thanks for the pics mate.

Grace with the decorations, the staff wearing silly Santa hats, carols over the PA and the freezing air conditioning you'll fell right at home!

LDU, the locals and non-Christians generally wish us 'Merry Christmas' in English.

Here's my favourite.

It was in Jumbo Bur Dubai a few years ago.

Christmas Kareem! ;-) The Xmas decorations, music, outfits, etc. start waaaaay too early. By the time it's finally Xmas, I want to throw myself into Dubai Creek whenever I hear "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..." LOL!

I am rather disgusted. Seems like Dubai is a sell out. Its an Islamic country for goodness sake. They make bigger deal out of a Christian Holiday than their own Islamic Holidays. I have lost all respect for Mohd. Bin Rashid, seems he is willing to do anything to get exposure even if it is undignifying to his people and muslims world wide.
