Coming to a store near you...

Something I've noticed cropping up fairly regularly on forums is women's clothing in Dubai, with sneering references to Dubai retailers stocking last year's fashions.

On my visits to important fashion capitals in Europe I must admit to not noticing any difference whatsoever. This year's, last year's, they all look like they're wearing much the same stuff to me.

But according to the sneerers we're out of date, no style, a dumping ground for last season's fashion which didn't sell in the super-smart, up-to-date UK & Europe.

Actually, in the UK a couple of weeks ago I was struck by how badly people are dressed. There's been a noticeable plummeting of standards over the past few years.

Mind you, there are some really classy young fashionistas there too, so expect this stylish look to be in your Dubai retailers in a year or two:

those ladies look good, you don't know shit about fashion, talk about shit ya know, lest your readership dwindle to a level more on par with your taste.

It's not just fashion, music too, and I'm sure there's more. Dubai is rapidly going down hill and needs to start giving the consumer a better deal.

Hi seabee!
Have just returned from the UK and can confirm that black tights / leggings with shorts or skirts are definitely "in" this summer / autumn... and I actually think it's looks ok to be honest.
I have to also admit that I'm one of those "sneerers" and have done all my shopping for the year in the UK over the past 3 weeks - service is friendly AND knowledgable, selection is HUGE compared to Dubai (not all of us can wear Extra-Small, dear Dubai...) and the prices were a fraction of what the same items cost in Dubai. So yes, I sneer with a smile about my new wardrobe, free of Dubai rip-offs ;-)

Beauty, indeed, is in the eyes of the beholder.

And none of it I can see here.

ZTG welcome back - I hope you had less rain up in Bonny Scotland than we had down south!

I agree, there's much more choice in the UK,as you would expect from stores catering to a population of 60 million. But stores that we also have here (like Debenham. M&S etc) had just about the same fashions. Prices are all over the place - the labels here often still have the pound/euro prices on and some are the same in dirhams, some much more and some considerably less. I have no idea how they do their pricing, it just seems random to me.

there is a huge difference in the cuts, fashion and quality in different countries even if the brand is the same. they are even sourced from different countries, with the western fashion more current, and quality there much better.

that would make Dubai two or three years behind the US - Everyone knows that Europe is already about year or so behind the US already.
