Stating the obvious

You will have noticed as I have the long and increasing line of signs stating the bleeding obvious.

Like signs stuck to hot water taps warning that the water is hot.

I came across this one on a fountain in JBR:

some people don't understand common sense - hence the signs.

Nothing wrong with those signs really. Just basic safety precautions. Just like Wiz, I didn't notice the fountain at first either! Not everyone is that alert while walking along. (though they should be.) Its cheaper to display these signs (international regs, aren't they?) rather than compensate careless or preoccupied folks who slip and fall and break an arm and a leg, then ligitage, screaming 'there wasn't even a frigging sign out there to warn us of the slippery floor'!

" then ligitage, screaming--"

Sorry for the typo: that should read 'then litigate, screaming-'.

Litigate if you slip over on a fountain's wet floor? Not in this part of the world! The system here is that you're responsible for your own actions.

"compensate careless or preoccupied folks who slip and fall and break an arm and a leg". Nope, not in this country... Gosh, I wish we could sue here! I'd be a millionaire by now considering the amount of dangerous side-walks, incompetent waiting staff that have "injured" me over the years, slippery shopping mall floors, falling objects from store windows, etc. The list is endless.
