We have rain!
Woke up this morning to a strange darkness, peered out and saw gray clouds and wet ground.
We had the first rain of the season.
So here's a prediction.
Tomorrow's papers will report chaos on the roads, including multiple crashes.
The rain will be to blame.
Motorists will be exonerated. Driving inappropriately in the conditions will not be the cause.
The rain dunnit.

What a lovely morning it was! The air was fresh, the sunrise was stunning, but of course my car looked like a right mess :-) haha! Surprisingly, on my entire drive all the way from Ajman to Dubai I didn't see a single rain-related accident... *knocks on wood* don't tell me drivers are learning that water + lots of oil & rubber on road = slippery means to slow down? Can it be true? Is there hope?
I would suggest that "the rain dunnit and ran away", but alas with the road gullies full of sand that is not an option.
Too quick to rejoice,
found this at a Dubai forum
"Everyone see the carnage on the roads this morning? My friend saw 5 accidents on the way from Dubai to Shahama, and I saw a couple including one definite fatality where someone wrapped their Landcruiser around a pole. That one was 'cause of driving too fast on wet roads, plain and simple. "
Here you go:
http://www.gulfnews.com/nation/Police_and_The_Courts/10260113.html
"Among the 25 accidents, 19 did not result in any injuries. This is because most of the accidents were caused by drivers who failed to keep safe distance,"
Maybe the reporting is changing!
'tis not their fault though. Because accidents 'happen'
I was laughing at the coincidence - on Saturday evening Emirates News reported a new government initiative had been launched to prevent flooding. So yesterday most of Al Qoz was under water....
Rose the priority for their initiative should be to stop the street cleaners from sweeping the sand into the drains!
Don't be ridiculous! That would be far too obvious!
Exactly, don't be daft! The drains are there, so the street cleaners shall use them to dump sand! Think of the poor street cleaners in the Springs... they have to carry all the sand away with them, because the Springs don't even have drains! haha!
