What's going on?

Dubai's first-in-the-world much vaunted air-conditioned bus stops, so recently installed, are now being boarded up:

Why?

  1. It looks like they're getting them up and running. So far they had been built but the A/C and electricals hadn't been turned on. Looks like they are doing that now.

  2. I agree, I believe its something to do with the power. They've recently installed meters so it might be electrical. I like the idea but they do take up alot of sidewalk space.

  4. The RTA has signs up on the street that say
    "We've done it...
    Air conditioned bus shelters"

or similar; except they're actually not done /:

  5. I, too, wondered. Good you actually posted about it. No longer need to vent my frustrations. No bus to catch...for now!

Recall went to ENOC petrol station 4 days ago...graphic on front shop door read along the lines of:

    RTA ... report violations of

    'pavement destruction
    traffic lights not working..."

    'all calls come with reward'

    lol

rta violations published in an advertisement advertised with rewards?

  8. anon@7.21, that's what the claim has always been..."Dubai is the first city in the world to offer the luxury of air-conditioned bus shelters for passengers" it says here, for example.
