Summer's coming

Current Temp at 12.30pm: 42C Feels like: 45C

...but with humidity at only 24% it's still quite comfortable. That'll change before too long unfortunately.

(PS. Update at 2.30pm. The radio weather report has just told me that it's now 44C with an amazingly low humidity of 8%).

I like hot sunny weather but humidity is high up on my 'things I hate' list and it won't be long before that hits us.

Another sign of constant hot weather is that I don't need to use the water heater any more because hot water comes from the cold tap. Run off the cool water that's in the pipes of the air-conditioned building and the hot water from outside comes through.

(To cool it down - and it is hot enough for that to be necessary - you have to add water from what would normally be the hot water tank).

Electricity use is up because the a/c is used more but from that you can deduct the cost of not heating up the water.

Just another of the oddities of living in Dubai.

For what it's worth, the weather's doing much the same here in Qatar, and in Bahrain too where I did my visa exchange today. It's going to be a long hot Ramadan this year...

It was 35 in Madrid yesterday: but an overnight thunderstorm and showers today have cooled things down a bit.

Keefie, on a related subject the headline in my home town local paper yesterday was "Batten down the hatches". A big storm was forecast for the weekend, which has already caused much of my home state of New South Wales to be declared a disaster area.

I'm not really expecting storms, or even rain, here though ;-)

Hey the summer is here!!. I covered that subject in my previous post http://dubaiphotostory.blogspot.com/2009/05/summertime.html

This summer will be something to watch out for. The roads are relatively quieter in the summer but are expected to be a lot more this year!! Lets wait and watch

It's 68F bright, super sunny with subtle breeze here in New York :). I'm lounging at the pool on the 58th floor with view into Central park :) :)

Yes, exactly, it's that time of year again when we turn off the hot water heater - and use the cold setting to get hot water and the hot setting to get cool water. Odd indeed!

ah yes - the case of the changing taps.

The season of the changing taps... and of remembering to NOT leave anything that has a melting-point in the car!
