RAK's agitated ox

It's been a while since we had a worthwhile story from Ras Al Khaimah.

Amongst others we've had panic caused by a dragon on the loose, and the black magic maid drama.

Now we hear that: An agitated ox spread fear and panic in Ras Al Khaimah...Residents said they were shocked when the ox appeared in their area all of a sudden on Saturday. Fearful of being attacked, people hid in nearby houses, buildings and commercial outlets.

Sadly someone went to investigate and was badly gored before the police captured the animal.

Gulf News has it here.

It seems like RAK is always in the news solely for negative press of the weird kind: black magic, glass pieces in pizza, bakers spitting into bread dough, a rampaging ox... what a weird emirate!

Unattended animals could cause harm , it is a very simple rule.
Ras AL Khaima in my opinion is unattended too sometimes not by it's own people or law but by less fortunate economic situations.
Remember that one day in the past Ras AL Khaima had more inhabitants and trade volumes than Dubai and Abu Dhabi put together.
If I was there I would escape too.

"The residents reported the incident to the police who dispatched several fully equipped patrols. The squad used ropes and brought the situation under control.Police sources said the ox got stuck in their traps and it was removed from the scene. "

thats funny, or is it me. i see some afghani types tying up the bull and transporting it. just one cop kind of watching the proceedings.

Anon@3.51, no it's not just you, I thought that was amusing too. I wondered what they meant by 'fully equipped patrols' - do they mean fully equipped to capture agitated oxen? Is it specialist equipment they keep ready in case an agitated ox appears in town.
