What a fantastic photograph

Photo. Russell Vickery. Herald Sun

Actually it's not the photograph but the moment it captures that I find so heartwarming.

A wild animal which would usually run away or scratch & bite with firefighter David Tree giving it some of his own water.

In a bushfire all living things share the danger. These two have experienced the horrors of the fires, fought the common enemy, and now in the middle of the devastation they share a moment together.

And THEN the koala bit him...

Pals in Oz have been telling stories/sending pics of koalas coming into houses, taking water from cyclists - and are at pains to point out that koalas might look cutesy but can pack a nasty punch.

Alex you're a cynic.

But you're right, koalas sure do pack a punch and their claws can do a lot of damage.

Cutesy, cuddly kangaroos can do a huge amount of damage too.

In the drought conditions we've had for years the wildlife does go anywhere to find water, including into houses. The snakes can be a real problem in the droughts.

ZTG are your friends in Melbourne OK?

What a lovely picture; so sad though that so many people and animals are perishing in the bush fires. We have both family and friends in Victoria, and are just feeling miserable for the catastrophy there.

Brilliant image Seabee. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everybody who has experienced such large-scale devastation... Let's hope they heal quickly.
