The upside of summer

Peak morning rush hour into Knowledge Village.

There's parking space available around town too.

I remember an article in the Gulf News that attributed the quieter roads to RTA initiatives such as car pooling! ...yeah, right! Nothing to do with everyone doing a runner?! What a pointless publication!

Truely the upside of summer, I wish the whole year was summer for this reason.

I think its more of Recession effect than Summer ... traffic last year around this time was definately different

(i arrived in Dubai around 20th Aug though)

Summer's always very much quieter than the rest of the year because it's when so many people, especially those with cars, take their holidays.

This year there's the added factors of the number of people who've left and the extra roads that are finished.

What hasn't made any difference I'm sure is the so-called car pooling initiative, Richard, because the RTA turned something very simple into something bureaucratic and difficult.

True, I have never seen Dubai so quiet on the roads

This is actually the sign of Dubai's downside:
the booming city has come to a stop and next year all of you guys down there will begin to fear the worst.
Yeah, the worst for UAE is yet to come, so you'd better run out of it!

Do you take questions? My wife and I will have a short(2 day) stopover in Dubai in November and were hoping for some information.
